Now Ducati Globetrotter 90 on the Final Leg

The final leg of the Ducati Globetrotter 90 tour is underway, with the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro due to return to the Ducati factory in Borgo Panigale on December 15. German mechanical engineering student Timo Schäfer started the final leg on December 5 i the Isle of Man, taking over from Bike Magazine editor Hugo Wilson. Timo's first stop on the tour - which has taken in some of the most historic sites in Ducati's history - is Canterbury to meet Paul Smart. Smart won the first Imola 200 race on April 23, 1972 on a standard Ducati 750 GT. Ducati consider this the most significant win in their history.

From Canterbury Timo will visit the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium and the Audi Museum in Ingolstadt, Germany, which is currently hosting the "More Than Red - Passione Ducati" exhibition until April 30, 2017. Timo will then travel to Italy to visit the Monza circuit and then Florence to visit Giuliano Maoggi, winner of the fourth Motogiro d'Italia in 1956 on the Gran Sport 100.

Previous rider Hugo took control of the Multistrada in Lisbon, Portugal on November 17. Hugo rode the bike back to the UK where it was shown at Motorcycle Live. After the show Hugo went onto visit Silverstone where Mike Hailwood won two races in two different classes - both on a Ducati - in 1960. Donington Park, the location of the first ever World Superbike race in 1988, was next on Hugo's journey. The first ever WSB race was won by Marco Lucchinelli on a Ducati 851.
